True Bug – Frog Hopper – Cercopis vulnerata

Its common name is the “red-and-black frog hopper” and the full taxonomy of Cercopis vulnerata is:-

  • Class – Insecta
  • Order – Hemiptera
  • Family – Cercopidae
  • Genus – Cercopis
  • Species – vulnerata

The red-and-black frog hopper is large member of its family.  It is found in sunny locations at the edge of woodland on vegetation and feeds on plant juices.
