Support for Northumberland hobby beekeepers

Apologies to anyone who was looking forward to any of the courses and workshops we had planned over the coming season, that we have cancelled due to Covid-19 and the need for social distancing. We look forward to getting these rearranged in future, when the time is right.

I’m inspired by the NHS workers, the bold actions the government is taking and people who are helping their community, to beat this horrible virus. I’m not much good at health care but would like to make a contribution to the virus war effort through beekeeping.

If anyone in the Northumberland area is unable to look after their bees, because they are in personal or family isolation, are vulnerable or live with someone vulnerable, is a busy key worker or simply don’t know what to do because they have not been able to get on a training course, get in touch with me through my website contact form and I will try to help.

I am a master beekeeper, with a small-scale beekeeping operation and my own equipment and truck. I can work alone, can ensure your bees are healthy and ensure good hygiene disciplines between apiaries. The aim is not to train you or keep your bees for you but to make sure they are still thriving once you are able to look after them again.

  1. Such a shame your courses will not happen now, roll on next year.
I’m sure people needing help will contact you for help if needed, as anyone who attended your previous training sessions know how fastidious you are with all of your beekeeping.
    Hope you keep well Sue

  2. Ian first let me say thank you for putting the time and energy into getting the word out to us keepers. Second that you would check what you can to keep the bees healthy is above and beyond what most would do. Thank you we can learn much from following your steps and I look forward to seeing you one day. Thank Ian.
