Sowbread – Cyclamen hederifolium

Plant : Sowbread is an introduced species, although it is also grown in domestic gardens for decoration.  It is a member of the Primulaceae family.  The green leaves have a distinctive white V pattern and drooping flower heads grow at the end of slender stems.  These stems may grow up to 25 cm tall.

Flower : The individual pink flowers have an upside-down appearance.  They have five petals and five stamen.  They flower in August and September.
