Bee – Bumble Bee – Bombus lapidarius

The common name Bombus lapidarius is the “red-tailed bumble bee” and its full taxonomy is:-

  • Class – Insecta
  • Order – Hymenoptera
  • Family – Apidae
  • Genus – Bombus
  • Species – lapidarius

The red tailed bumble bee is large and common.  It is black, with black pollen baskets and has a red rear.  It commonly nests under large stones.
